Well, this has just been a horrible weekend for me. I'm not going to whine about the injustice of it all, but I'll make a list:

-I didn't get into Florida, which is exceptionally sucky, since everyone was convinced I'd be a shoe-in
-Therefore my parents, now not really caring about my grades, seeing as I will be going to VCU or JMU, had me go apply to work at GIANT...
-So I retaliated by applying to Caribou Coffee (and a bunch of other places in Olney) and Borders as well (actually, that was fairly satisfying)
-Which involved me hiking around Olney for three hours on foot, looking for jobs
-That wasn't so bad, until I came home and realized that, because I was wearing my Chucks for so long, one of my toes is now crooked
-I weighed myself, and found out I'm back down to 115 pounds
-Then I had to spend forever going through the computer, trying to find my source documentations from World History, only to discover that I deleted them, therefore had to rewrite everything
-I made a list of all the art projects I have to finish by Thursday and nearly fainted
-And now I have to finish my final draft of the English paper, meaning I'm going to be down here for quite a while

So, yeah. That was my weekend. I've been trying to console myself with Ben & Jerry's and MST3K, but they can only take me so far. My dad even asked me if I wanted a stiff drink after I found out I didn't get in Florida. Gahhhhh. But I'll keep going. I'm going to ass this final draft of the paper, so I can go start some of these ridiculous art projects. By Thursday, I need to:

-Finish that drawing of Joe (granted, this will probably take, like, five minutes)
-Document me wearing my plastic bag dress (fifteen minutes?)
-Watercolor painting: pots and pans (6 hours min)
-Watercolor painting: Glasses in water (6 hours min)
-Pencil drawing series: Me recycling a bottle (I can ass this one pretty fast)
-In-class pen&ink drawings of classmates (in-class=I can do whatever I want)

Ugh. Gross. If anyone's interested, here's a list of places I have applications for:

-Border's/Border's Express (already submitted application)
-Caribou Coffee (already submitted application)
-Giant (already submitted application, but I refuse to work there until June)
-Aaron Brothers Framing Company
-Starbucks in Olney
-Suncoast/Sam Goody
-Game Stop

You know what? I refuse to get emo about all this crap. I will go to VCU or JMU and be happy. Blargh.
Current Mood: blahrefusing to be emo
Current Music: Tool

Vote for One?

(Link)
JB and I say Starbucks! (over Caribou).

If multiple votes count, how about Borders, then Framing?

Happenstance Can Look Like A Big Mess AT THE TIME

(Link)
Happenstance implies a kind of “allowing synchronicity” and works by one being open to events in the environment, people met on the way, and “cues” from what is occurring around one, to guide one’s way. The expression, “Luck is where preparation meets opportunity,” is apt in career- (or merely job-) seeking as well as in other areas in life.
--quote from auntjanice LJ on previous occasion

Now, listen here, I suspect you will just say "No Way" right now but remember to hang onto Zen, detach and try to act "as if" (if you can't believe -- that's all right) this will be OK and sometimes the things one really really wants at the time but does not get turn out to have been a wrong path, if followed (trust me on this, much personal experience and that of others can bear this out).

Plus BOTH OF YOU have extremely unique valuable talented qualities that will GET YOU RECOGNIZED and GET YOU SOMEWHERE YOU DO WANT TO GO but meanwhile you must allow "fate" (it is YOU, trust me on this, your Higher Selves that is) to prepare you! Through some life experience.

End of Lecture of "Old Lady" (what does she know about young people?!) who is on 3rd college attempting to start 4th career and WILL DO IT! AND SUCCESSFULLY!

27-1013.02 Sketch Artist, or Joe by the Numbers!

(Link)
I just used my own link and Artist* as an Occupation, got "Sketch Artist" and lo and behold, there is such a thing out there in officialdom! Job description and info and all! Amazing thing, this Internet! Back in my youth (yeah, when dinosaurs roamed the earth) we had to use the horrible, messy things (when you have "perspiring palms," like me) known as "The Classified Ads Section in the Newspaper" and the "Telephone Book" -- does anyone even know what that WAS now? Argh.
